The Dairy State

It's been about 2 weeks since I last clocked time in Illustrator. Not sure why but it seems that all day long while I'm unable to design it's all I want to do and yet, when I come home with all the time in the world by my side, I can't get motivated at all. I know I'm not the only person in the world who struggles with focus but at least my notebook is filling up more and more with design ideas and sketches. I guess I'll just have to settle with the little victories for now. ANYWAY!....The last couple weeks I have seen so many commercials advertising Real California Cheese, Milk, etc. and as a born and bred Wisconsin boy I can't stand it! Wisconsin is THE DAIRY STATE and the fact that California looks to take that away from us just fires me up! California seems to think that cows who just sit in the sun all day are a match for our tough, thick-blooded, god dammed working class cattle?! Screw that! Wisconsin is the REAL Dairy State!

For this design I looked to vintage beer labels, blue jeans, and vintage logos for ideas on both color palette and style. The patches I came up with have a durability about them. They look both new and old all at the same time and I would love to have these on a cap! I'm still not sure how I feel with the state silhouette in the the background....
